Dive Judge

Judging gives you the best seat in the house. Clinics are available for those who are seeking some "formal" training from the officials at NVSL (Northern Virginia Swim League) but it's really not necessary to fill this role. We can teach you poolside during practice, and there are plenty of YouTube videos available to help you master the role.

Table Worker

Working the table requires the math skills of a third grader, but you have the benefit of a calculator. Great seats, great view and a friendly atmosphere to enjoy the meet. Most new volunteers can be trained in less than 5 minutes--sometimes 6 if they struggle with math.

Photographer

The title of the role says it all. Enjoy the meet capturing the action on and off the boards. These pictures will be included at the end of the season slide show. We love candid pictures that include volunteers and family members and the kids having fun together. And if you have the capability, short videos are perfect for the slide show. The week after the meet, please submit pictures and videos to the team rep.

Meet Secretary

This is the easiest of the meet jobs while the title can seem imposing. It involves keeping a running tally of the meet score which ultimately decides the winner of the meet. There is redundancy built into the system so errors in the outcome of the meet are effectively eliminated. And you don't have to answer any phones or demonstrate any typing skills.

Bagel Monday Line Chef

Bagels are delivered to the Turtle Shell every Monday morning and cut in half by the Turtle Shell kitchen staff. The Dive Team Volunteers then take those bagels, along with soft cream cheese, whipped butter, napkins and all the accoutrements needed to serve the bagel fare to the designated round table at the diving well to serve bagels to the hungry and wet youth emerging from either swim or dive practice. Afterwards, the remaining supplies are then returned to the Turtle Shell and stored or disposed of as necessary.
